A system and a method for data communication through call separation and control by a mobile switching center are provided to enable the mobile switching center to process a call as a data call and transmit information and contents registered by a callee to a wireless terminal of a caller before inducing the data communication if the callee is registered for a data service when the call is originated from the caller, and process the call as a voice call to induce the voice call if the callee is not registered for the data service. A data communication system comprises the followings: a CPDS(Contents Provider Data Service) providing system(600) which is connected to a mobile communication network and includes a database(610) accessed through wired or wireless communication units so that information and contents of a user can be registered and a CPDS controller(620) for controlling the information and contents of the database(610) so as to be transmitted to wireless terminals of calling or called parties according to a request of the calling or called parties; and a mobile switching center having call separation and control units which stop voice call connection and change a voice call into to a data call so that the wireless terminal of the calling party can be connected to the CPDS providing system(600) according to whether the called party is registered in the CPDS providing system(600) when the call is originated from the wireless terminal of the calling party or a voice call path is released from the called party after the voice call, and then change the data call to the voice call or release the call at request of the calling party.
