A method and an apparatus for wireless communication are provided to use a first transmission mode using a first channel and a second transmission mode using a second channel and support respectively different data transmission capacity in the first and second channels, thereby performing smoothly the transmission of data. A method for wireless communication comprises the following steps of: generating a band request packet(500) requesting a mediator to allocate a channel time; and outputting the generated band request packet by wireless. The band request packet includes information about a data output mode used in the channel time. The data output modes includes a first transmission mode for transmitting data using a broadband signal and a second transmission mode for transmitting data using a narrowband signal.
