<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preventive safety device of an automobile capable of correctly predicting a collision even if a detecting range by a sensor is limited to a part far from one's own automobile and any obstacle such as a step on the ground in the vicinity of the own automobile cannot be detected, or a vehicle speed is high, informing a driver of the presence of the obstacle and controlling the own automobile so that the automobile does not approach the obstacle when the automobile runs off or is collided with the obstacle. <P>SOLUTION: The preventive safety device comprises an obstacle storage means for storing the position of an obstacle, and a position estimation means for estimating the relative position of the own automobile and the obstacle from the position of the obstacle stored by the obstacle storage means, the speed and the side slip angle of the own automobile, and calculates the possibility of the collision of the own automobile with the obstacle from the estimated relative position and the predicted course of the own automobile. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
