1. A method for determining the presence or absence of a mycobacterial infection in the lungs of a patient comprising:
administering to the lungs of the patient a diagnostically effective amount of 15N-labeled isoniazid and optionally, isotopically labeled urea; collecting one or more samples of exhaled breath from the subject; and determining an amount of 15N-labeled nitrogen gas in said samples; said amount indicating presence or absence of the mycobacterial infection in the lungs of the patient. |
