PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber cable and a method of passing the optical fiber cable through a partition while sealing the through hole on the partition with a sufficient airtightness without losing the prevention of damage of the optical fiber by a cicada and the easy tearing of a jacket. SOLUTION: The optical fiber cable is so formed that one or more coated optical fibers 1 are arranged in the central part of the cable, tension members 2 are arranged on both sides of the central part of the cable and integrally covered by the jacket 3. A straight line passing through the center of the tension members 2 arranged on both sides of the central axis of the cable is assumed as the central axis Y of the cable, and a straight line perpendicular to the central axis of the cable and passing through the central part of the cable is assumed as a normal line axis X, then wedge-shaped notches 5a to 5d are provided directing from the surface to the inside of the jacket 3 in respective regions on the cross section of the cable which are divided into four by the central axis Y of the cable and the normal line axis X. In this case, the length D1 of the segment of the line connecting the ends of the two notches existing in the same side of the central axis Y of the cable is shorter than the distance D2 between the end of the notch and the closest coated optical fiber 1.
