A six-speed power train of an automatic transmission for a vehicle is provided to enhance driving characteristics by optimizing a gear ratio. A first planetary gear set(PG1) shares a sun gear and a planetary carrier and includes a first operational element as an input element, a second operational element as a selective input/output element, a third operational element as a selective input/fixing element, and a fourth operational element as a selective output element. A second planetary gear set(PG2) is a single pinion planetary gear set and includes a first operational element as a constant input element, a second operational element as a selective output/input element, and a third operational element as a selective output/input element. A third planetary gear set(PG3) is a single pinion planetary gear set and includes a first operational element as a constant input element, a second operational element as a constant output element, and a third operational element as a selective input element. A clutch unit includes five clutches for variably connecting one of the operational elements of the first and second planetary gear sets to an input shaft, and variably connecting two of the operational elements of the first planetary gear set to three of the operational elements of the second and third planetary gear sets. A brake unit includes one brake for variably connecting one of the operational elements of the first planetary gear set to a transmission housing.
