PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reinforcing material for rubber articles, which can ensure extensibility (stretchability) on productive processing, can enhance stiffness in the circumferential direction, especially when applied to tire, and does not cause other problems such as increase in the weight of the tire, and to provide a tire using the same. SOLUTION: This reinforcing material for the rubber articles, comprising a core cord material 1 and four or more wound cord materials 2 wound on the core cord material 1, is characterized in that the core cord material 1 has a breaking elongation of≥3%; each of the wound cord materials 2 is a strand prepared by twisting plural metal wires; the maximum value G<SB>max</SB>of a distance between the adjacent wound strands 2 and the total amount G<SB>total</SB>satisfy the following expression: G<SB>max</SB>≤G<SB>total</SB>/2, and the total amount G<SB>total</SB>of distances between the adjacent strands 2 satisfies the following expression: G'<SB>total</SB>≥4×d before processed or in a state that the reinforcing materials are taken out from the rubber article, when the average diameter d of the circumcircles of the strands 2 is d.
