PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a meniscus of a nozzle from being broken while attaining the miniaturization of a recording head. SOLUTION: A plurality of individual ink channels led from the outlet of a manifold channel to the nozzle are formed in an ink-jet head 1. An excess state detection part computes the difference of pressure between an ink side and an atmospheric air side in the meniscus formed in the nozzle while detecting an excess state that the computed pressure difference exceeds a threshold. A pressure control part makes a pump 18 driven while making positive pressure applied into an ink tank 17 so that the pressure difference may remain below the threshold for a predetermined driving time from a time when the pressure difference is in the excess state.
