TOP DRIVE SYSTEM Abstract There is provided a method of using a top drive (200). The method comprises coupling a drill string to a quill (214) of the top drive (200) by a first adapter that is bidirectionally rotationally coupled to the quill (214); rotating a drill bit coupled to the drill string to drill a wellbore; removing the drill string from the wellbore; actuating an actuator (325) to release the first adapter from the quill (214); engaging a second adapter with the quill (214), wherein a tubular gripping member is coupled to the second adapter; actuating the actuator (325) to bidirectionally rotationally couple the second adapter to the quill (214); gripping a casing (70) using the tubular gripping member; and rotating the casing (70) using the tubular gripping member.
