A light emitting device is provided which as much as possible suppresses the deviation between a design value and the color of the actual light, which is obtained by mixing the light emitted from multiple light emitting elements mounted at high density and the excitation light from phosphors contained in a resin that seals the light emitting elements; and a manufacturing method of said light emitting device is also provided. This light emitting device comprises a substrate, multiple light emitting elements which are mounted densely on the substrate, a sealing resin which contains phosphors and which seals the whole of the multiple light emitting elements, wherein the multiple light emitting elements are mounted on the substrate such that the interval between adjacent light emitting elements is greater than or equal to 5µm and is less than or equal to 120% of the average particle diameter of the phosphors.
