PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide ophthalmic compositions suitable for topical application to an eye, effective in the treatment and/or prevention of microbial infection or disorders of at least one tissue of the eye caused by bacteria, mycobacteria, viruses, fungi, or amoebae.SOLUTION: The invention provides an ophthalmic composition containing povidone-iodine in a concentration of 0.01-10%, anti-inflammatory agent such as ketotifen fumarate, diclofenac sodium, flurbiprofen sodium, and ketorolac tromethamine, steroid such as dexamethasone, prednisolone, prednisone, prednisolone acetate, prednisolone sodium phosphate, rimexolone, hydrocortisone, or combinations thereof. Preferably, the ophthalmic composition contains 0.1-2.5% by weight of, particularly preferably 0.5-2% by weight of povidone iodine. The total weight of povidone iodine, antiinflammatory agents, and steroid is 0.1-4.5% in the solution.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
