PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator and a method capable of performing control easily, reliably and safely.SOLUTION: An elevator includes: elevator units (1, 2) which are movable in a hoist way (H); a belt-like hoisting rope (3a, 3b, 3c) which interconnects between devices (1, 2); and a driving wheel (5) which moves the hoisting rope. Therein, each hoisting rope which circulates around the driving wheel continuously contains each rope part (a, b) respectively extended between the driving wheel and each device (1, 2). The elevator further includes non-driven upward warp deflection wheel (4, 6) and each rope part (a, b) circulates around the wheel (4, 6) and comes into contact with an upward warp peripheral surface region (A, B, C). The elevator also includes rope monitor mechanisms (20a, 20b, 30a, 30b) which monitor deviations from prescribed intervals (Za, Zb, Zc) of each rope part to a wheel axial direction and, when the rope part is deviated from the prescribed interval to an axial direction of the wheel (4, 5, 6), rotation of the driving wheel (5) is stopped.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
