The invention relates to a liquid mixture for preserving porous materials , in particular objects made of stone or wood, wherein the mixture contains at least two materials from the group consisting of organically modified sil icon dioxides, in particular organo(alkoxy)silanes (ormosil). The invention further relates to a method of preserving porous materials.
