PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems of conventional steel frames or wooden frames of rigid structure wherein since the cross sections of a column and a beam must be increased in order to hold bending resistance and energy cannot be absorbed against the bending resistance, the deformations thereof are increased against both vertical vibration and earthquake movement. SOLUTION: In this portal frame with a damper of a brace structure comprising the column 1 and the beam 2 serving as upper chord members, a first lower chord member 4 installed diagonally from the lower section 3 of the column 1 toward the beam 2, a second lower chord member 6 installed diagonally from the beam center section 5 toward the column 1, and a short first diagonal member 8 joined to the intersection 7 between the first lower chord member 4 and the second lower chord member 6 extend from a corner 9 which is the intersection 7 between the column 1 and the beam 2. A second diagonal member 10 is installed at the appropriate portion of the beam 2 apart from the center toward the column 1 side so as to extend toward the intersection 7 of the first lower chord member 4, the second lower chord member 6, and the first diagonal member 8. These members are joined and fixed with fixing devices such as bolts. A damper 11 is attached to the first diagonal member 8 and/or the second diagonal member 10. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
