摘要 <p>This invention provides a glass comprising an element such as Si, which is a network forming material, precipitated therein, and a method for manufacturing the same. The glass comprises fine particles of a network forming element, specifically Si, Ge or the like, precipitated therein in a dispersed state. A laser beam is applied to a glass comprising a first element as a network forming material and a second element having a standard oxidation-reduction potential, which is larger in a negative direction than the first element, containing oxygen in an amount of less than the stoichiometric ratio to precipitate the first element within the glass. Alternatively, a glass comprising a first element as a network forming material and a second element having a standard oxidation-reduction potential, which is larger in a negative direction than the first element, containing oxygen in an amount of less than the stoichiometric ratio, is heat treated to disperse and precipitate fine particles of the first element within the glass.</p>
