<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of controlling projection of an image and output of sound. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The projector 1 includes: a light source 11; an image projection part 10 which modulates light emitted from the light source 11 according to an image signal to form an image and projects the image; a sound amplifier circuit 43a which amplifies a sound signal; a sound output part 43 which outputs the sound amplified by the sound amplifier circuit 43a; an operation signal receiving part (operation panel 21) which receives an operation signal; and a control part 20 capable of switching the projector to one of a first state that the image projection part 10 projects the image and the sound output part 43 outputs the sound, a second state that the image projection part 10 projects the image and the sound output part 43 stops output of the sound, and a third state that the image projection part 10 stops projection of the image and the sound output part 43 outputs the sound, wherein the control part 20 switches the projector to any one of operating states based on the operation signal received by the operation signal receiving part.
