<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bacteriological examination device and a bacteriological examination method which prevent white spots of coloring or fluorescence, and heightening examination accuracy. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A plurality of light sources 25 are provided at equal intervals on the periphery of a placing part 12 for placing a culture medium 1 thereon. A light guide member 24, made of a light-transmissible material, forms a wall surrounding the space between an observation hole 21d for observing the culture medium 1 placed on the placing part 12 and the placing part 12. The light guide member 24 has a light-emitting surface 24b, where a plurality of grooves are formed to form a notched cross section in the longitudinal direction, on the inner circumferential surface 24a. The light guide member 24 adjusts the light transmitted through the inside of the thickness to be parallel light which is substantially set vertical with respect to a line which connects the observation hole 21d and the placing part 12.
