PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique of reducing tensile stress at an inner peripheral surface of a crimping and fixing portion of a differential case, thus preventing a crack at the inner peripheral surface of the crimping and fixing portion, when the crimping and fixing portion is warped toward an outer peripheral side.SOLUTION: The method of mounting a ring gear 12 on a differential case 13 includes: a first step of fitting the ring gear 12 on an outer periphery of the differential case 13; and a second step of warping a crimping and fixing portion 52 of the differential case 13 toward the outer peripheral side, thus preventing removal of the ring gear 12 from the differential case 13. At the second step, a jig 60 having an inclined surface 61 capable of coming in contact with an inner peripheral surface 53 of the crimping and fixing portion 52 of the differential case 13 is pushed along a direction of a rotational axis of the differential case 13, thereby warping the crimping and fixing portion 52 toward the outer peripheral side. The inclined surface 61 of the jig 60, and the inner peripheral surface 53 of the crimping and fixing portion 52 are subjected to surface treatment for strengthening friction between the inclined surface 61 of the jig 60 and the inner peripheral surface 53 of the crimping and fixing portion 52.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 11 |
