A blood cleaning apparatus capable of checking for a failure of each of constituent elements contained in the apparatus. The blood density of a patient which has been conventionally measured before blood cleaning does not need to be measured, the treatment time is shortened, and hence the load on the patient is lightened. The blood cleaning apparatus comprises a blood pump (3) provided in an artery blood circuit (1a), a blood cleaner (2) for cleaning blood, a blood cleaning apparatus body (6, 7) having a water- removing pump (8) for removing the water content from the blood, first and second measuring means (5a, 5b) for measuring the hematocrits provided in the artery blood circuit and a vein blood circuit, calculating means (11) for calculating the ratio between the measured hematocrits and the ratio between theoretical hematocrits obtained by a predetermined formula, and judging means (12) for judging whether or not the ratios calculated by the calculating means (11) are almost equal to each other. |
