PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a practical astonishment response damping phenomenon measuring method. SOLUTION: The astonishment response damping phenomenon measuring method is to individually apply only an astonishment stimulative sound and an astonishment stimulative sound having an advance stimulative sound which is weaker than the astonishment stimulation to an examinee, to accept a standard level which is a sound intensity level felt by the examinee when only the astonishment stimulative sound is applied and an object level which is a sound intensity level felt by the examinee when the astonishment stimulative sound having the advance stimulative sound is applied, and to measure the astonishment response damping phenomenon of the examinee from the accepted standard level and the object level, wherein a reference sound with a prescribed intensity level is applied to the examinee to be a criterion when the examinee evaluates the intensity level of the sound before the astonishment stimulative sound and the astonishment stimulative sound having the advance stimulative sound are applied to the examinee.
