PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition against the infection by human cytomegalovirus (HCMV), β-herpesvirus, comprising an agent selected from the group comprising HCMV virion, HCMV dense body and HCMV NIEP, use of the composition and a method for the manufacture of the composition.SOLUTION: A composition comprises an agent selected from the group comprising HCMV virion, HCMV dense body and HCMV NIEP, whereby the composition is capable of elucidating an immune response while the virion, the NIEP and/or the dense body being non-fusiogenic. The present invention is related to use of an agent, whereby the agent is selected from the group comprising HCMV virion, HCMV dense body and HCMV NIEP, or of a composition comprising the agent, whereby the agent is non-fusiogenic, for the manufacture of a medicament. The present invention is also related to a method for the manufacture of the composition in which treatment comprising UV treatment, high energy irradiation, low pH treatment, heat treatment and treatment with a cross-linking agent is performed.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
