An image display device having a multiple input DVR function and a method for controlling the same are provided to solve of a problem of a related art that an existing DVR product is not able to store and reproduce component input. A signal input module(10) receives and outputs an RF signal, a component signal, an S-video signal, and a composite signal. The first image signal processing module(16) receives a corresponding image signal according to a signal source input through the signal input module(10), converts the frame of the image signal, and then compresses the image signal into video data. A storage module(26) selectively stores a signal encoded in the first image signal processing module(16). A controller(38) performs a control operation such that the image signal from the first image signal processing module(16), or the image signal stored in the storage module(26) is selectively output through a display module. The second image signal processing module(30) performs signal processing such that the image signal from the first image signal processing module(16) or the image signal in the storage module(26) is displayed on the display module according to the control signal of the controller(38).
