PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively provide an evaluation method and apparatus for evaluating the microscopic bio-compatibility of a bio-molecule and a ceramic material with high precision. SOLUTION: A determining apparatus 1 includes an SPR element 5 constituted by arranging a metal membrane 3 and a ceramics membrane 4 on one side of an optical prism 2. A cell 6 equipped with an injection port 6a and a discharge port 6b for injecting and discharging a buffer solution 7 and a bio-molecule solution 8 is arranged on the ceramics membrane 4. The incident light 13 emitted from a light source 10 is a light wave p-polarized by an iris 11 and a polarizer 12. Since the interaction of the bio-molecule 8 and the membrane 4 is produced and an incident angle exciting a surface plasmon wave changes in a case that the refractive index or the like of an analyzing target changes, it is confirmed whether the bio-molecule 8 is adsorbed by the membrane 4. Reflected light 14 is applied to a photodetector 15, and the reflected light intensity of the reflected light 14 corresponding to the change of the incident angle is measured.
