PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter medium where capturing is performed on the surface of the filter medium in a two-dimensional shape and to provide a filter unit.SOLUTION: A filtration object is filtered by a filter medium 10. In the filter medium 10: the opening diameter φ of a surface opening 11a on a first filter medium surface 10a is within a range of 1 μm or more to 50 μm or less; an aspect ratio T/φ of the opening diameter φ μm to a thickness T μm is within a range of 0.05 or more to 0.7 or less; an opening ratio on the first filter medium surface 10a is within a range of 0.3 or more to 0.7 or less; an opening pitch P on the first filter medium surface 10a is within a range of 0.2 μm or more to 10 μm or less; and a ratio P/φ of the opening pitch P to the opening diameter φ is within a range of 0.05 or more to 0.3 or less.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
