A cutting apparatus of a railway vehicle wheel brake disc machining lathe is provided to obtain a minimum cutting depth by automatically measuring an ununiform surface of the railway vehicle wheel brake disc. A cutting apparatus of a railway vehicle wheel brake disc machining lathe cuts a brake disc by rotating a vehicle wheel shaft of a vehicle wheel. The cutting apparatus includes a cutting bite(B), a transverse feeding mechanism, and a longitudinal feeding mechanism. The cutting bite makes contact with a surface of the brake disc. The transverse feeding mechanism feeds the cutting bite in the direction crossing the vehicle wheel shaft. The longitudinal feeding mechanism feeds the cutting bite along the axial direction of the vehicle wheel shaft.
