<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electron emission element with a greater quantity of electrons emitted. <P>SOLUTION: The electron emission element 10A comprises a lower electrode 12, an emitter part 13 formed of a dielectric body, and an upper electrode 14 with a fine through hole. The ratio Pr/P of remanent polarization quantity with respect to the total polarization quantity P of the electron emission element is larger than 0.7. Alternatively, when the absolute value of a difference between the polarization quantity, when a potential of the upper electrode is set lower than the potential of the lower electrode, and a remanent polarization quantity, when the potential of the upper electrode is set equal to the potential of the lower electrode, is negative-polarity polarization decreasing quantityΔP, the ratioΔP/P of the negative-polarity polarization decreasing quantityΔP to the total polarization quantity P for a single cycle of the electron emission element is not larger than 0.1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
