PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and an image forming method capable of flexibly meeting various needs.

SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus (10) is mounted on a digital composite machine provided with a copying function for continuously recording images and an information transferring function with an external device and has: a first preserving means (11) for preserving a recording medium before recording; a plurality of image forming sections (20, 30) for forming an image and recording the same onto the recording medium; and a second preserving means (13) for preserving the recording medium with the image recorded thereon.
