A piston for an internal combustion engine includes a piston body forming a crown portion and a skirt portion. The skirt portion includes a pin bore and forms two guide surfaces. The crown portion forms a cylindrical surface having at least two grooves defining a top land surface and a bottom land surface. A ratio between a height of the top land surface and a nominal inner diameter of a bore in which the piston is configured to operate is between 3% and 4.5%. Further, the pin bore has a diameter that extends entirely within the respective heights of the two guide surfaces along the centerline of the piston such that the skirt portion fully supports the piston. |
