发明名称 Improvements in ships' davits
摘要 421,127. Davits. CARR, G. W., 7, York Terrace, North Shields, Northumberland. June 14, 1933, No. 17008. [Class 115] A luffing davit comprises a number of articulated members 12 pivoted at the foot to a heel member 13 pinned at 27 to the deck and at the head to an arm 15 terminating in a fork 42 which embraces a sling rod 41 supporting the boat 39. The rope 19 for controlling the lowering operation passes over a pulley 36 at the head of the frame 34 which supports the davit when inboard and after passing over rollers 18, 20 is secured to the arm 15 at 21. When the boat is to be launched the rope 19 is slacked off and the weight of the boat causes the arm 15 to pivot about the adjacent member 12 until the outboard faces of the members contact. The members then pivot outward in succession until the davit assumes the full outboard position as shown in dotted lines. Hooks on the underside of the members 12 co-operating with supplementary members on the frame 34 ensure that the members 12 operate in proper succession. A member 47 pivoted beneath the deck and provided with a series of notches 50 limits the outboard movement of the whole davit structure. By arranging davits of this character alternatively of different height. Boats may be stowed along the side of the deck in a double tier with the boat in the lower tier overlapping the ends of the boats in the upper tier.
