<p>To a plurality of packets contained in a stream, there is added time information for restoring a regeneration rate. These packets of a predetermined quantity are stored in advance in a buffer memory (9). Then, a packet arrival time detection unit (5) detects the input time of the packet of a reference time (or the packet having arrived at first at the stream regeneration starting time). After lapse of a predetermined time period, a time correction unit (7) loads a time counter (6) with the input time of the packet of the reference time. A comparison unit (8) compares the time information of each packet stored in the buffer memory (9) and the time measurement referring to the input time, with which the time counter (6) was loaded, and outputs the coincident packet, if any, to a packet processing unit (12). Even under the condition, in which fluctuations occur for the time period of the stream transfer from the record medium or the like, therefore, an underflow of the rate regeneration of the stream becomes hard to occur.</p> |
