An information processing device, method, and program in which the format of an audio signal outputted to a display can be quickly and adequately set. When a monitor (12) is connected to an image processing device (11) through an HDMI cable (13), the image processing device (11) instructs the monitor (12) to display an audio format setting screen through which only the set items of the audio signal which the monitor (12) can be accept are selectable according to the EDID acquired from the monitor (12) and prompts the user to select a format of the audio signal supplied from the image processing device (11) to the monitor (12). This invention is applicable to, e.g., an information processing device outputting an audio signal to a monitor.
