PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To promptly complete the detection of a manuscript size.SOLUTION: An image reading apparatus executes the processing of: generating, as image data in a reading region, image data for output and image data for size detection having lower resolution than in the image data for output, to discriminate high concentration lines among the image data for size detection; performing target line setting processing which sets one of the high concentration lines as a target line; obtaining a width from a reference line to the target line as a width for size detection; setting, as a manuscript size, a standard size which has the nearest width to the width for size detection among the plurality of types of reference sizes; and based on the reference size which is set as the manuscript size, performing image processing and outputting the image data for output.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8 |
