PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure desired detection accuracy and reliability with respect to a traffic congestion sign detection based on various kinds of travel environments and drive characteristics of drivers.SOLUTION: A drive support method is executed by a drive support device 10 comprising a three-dimensional acceleration sensor 14 and a display device 16. The method comprises: a step in which the drive support device 10 calculates a power spectrum by performing frequency analysis of acceleration acquired by the three-dimensional acceleration sensor 14; a step in which the drive support device 10 acquires information of an angle based on magnitude of inclination in a predetermined frequency range of a single regression line of the power spectrum; a step in which the drive support device 10 acquires speed; a step in which, the drive support device 10 calculates a traffic congestion sign index which is a product of a value related to a variation degree of the angle, and a value related to the speed; and a step in which the drive support device 10 detects the traffic congestion sign based on the change of the traffic congestion sign index in the predetermined period.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
