PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high pressure pump capable of improving the driving performance of an electromagnetic drive unit controlling a discharge volume.SOLUTION: A valve member 40 is seated on and separated from a valve seat 34 of a valve body 30 provided in a fuel passage 100 to shut off and permit a flow of fuel in the fuel passage 100. A stopper 50 includes a cylindrical portion 51, and a surface facing a pressurization chamber 113-side surface of the valve member 40. An electromagnetic drive unit 70 is provided on a side opposite to the pressurization chamber 113 with respect to the valve member 40 and generates a magnetomotive force so that the valve member 40 moves in a valve opening direction or a valve closing direction by carrying a current across a coil section 71. A high pressure pump 10 has a generally annular space 124 outside of a diameter of the cylindrical portion 51 so that the fuel flowing from the pressurization chamber 113 toward the valve member 40 can circulate in the space 124. |
