PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical glass and an optical element having refraction index (n) and Abbe number (ν) in a desired range and high in devitrification resistance at lower cost.SOLUTION: An optical glass contains, by mass%, BOcomponent of 10.0 to 40.0%, LaOcomponent of 25.0 to 55.0% and YOcomponent of over 0% and has mass ratio YO/(YO+GdO) of 0.500 or more and Abbe number (ν) of 39 or more.
