PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an induction machine whose efficiency and strength reliability can be improved, and an induction machine drive system and a railway vehicle that use the induction machine.SOLUTION: An induction machine 1 comprises: a stator 10 including a stator winding 13; and a rotor that includes a rotor core 24 composed of a plurality of electromagnetic steel sheets stacked in the axial direction, an approximately toric rotor core retainer 26 for fixing the plurality of electromagnetic steel sheets, a plurality of rotor bars 22 inserted into a plurality of rotor slots 21 provided in the rotor core, and an end ring 23 for electrically connecting the plurality of rotor bars at axial direction ends of the plurality of rotor bars, and is opposite to the stator via a gap. The plurality of rotor bars include a first rotor bar including a notch at its end in the axial direction. The rotor core retainer's outer diameter is larger than the first rotor bar's inner diameter inside the rotor core.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1a |
