PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate exchange of short messages between mobile phone terminals of different carriers and consumers.SOLUTION: A short message service gateway system includes; short message service (SMS) servers 3a-3c located in different carriers; and server computers connected to provider servers 6a-6c located in providers that provide services that enable consumer terminals 7 to exchange short messages with mobile phone terminals 5a-5c of each carrier. The server computers perform; first protocol conversion processing for converting an SMS in a carrier protocol, which is specific to each carrier, transmitted from a mobile phone terminal 5 of each carrier into an SMS in a provider protocol; and second protocol conversion processing for identifying a carrier of a destination of an SMS transmitted from a consumer terminal and converting the SMS in a provider protocol into an SMS in a carrier protocol used by the identified carrier. |
