A smart entry system, wherein a vehicular on-board device (2) comprises: vehicular on-board device transmission units (23, 24) that transmit request signals to a mobile device (3) carried by a user; a vehicular on-board device reception unit (25) that receives, from the mobile device in response to the request signal, a response signal that includes the measured value of the received signal strength of the request signal; an estimation unit (21) that estimates the position of the mobile device from the measured value; and an output unit (26) that outputs a control instruction to unlock the lock mechanism (5) of a vehicle door when the mobile device is estimated to be in an unlocking permissible area formed around the vehicle and that outputs a control instruction to lock the lock mechanism of the vehicle door when the mobile device is estimated to be outside of the unlocking permissible area and moving in a direction away from the vehicle. The mobile device comprises: a mobile device reception unit (33) that receives the request signal from the vehicular on-board device; a measurement unit (34) that measures the received signal strength of the request signal; and a mobile device transmission unit (35) that transmits a response signal to the vehicular on-board device. |
