wherein: a first surface of the article comprises plasmonic silver nanoplates, wherein the silver nanoplates are capable of being contacted with a solvent under conditions such that a plurality of silver ions are released from the silver nanoplates thereby producing a colorimetric display; and wherein the release of a plurality of silver ions from a plurality of plasmonic silver nanoplates results in a shift of the peak extinction wavelength of the plasmonic silver nanoplates of at least 5 nm. |
