A remote monitoring system, comprising an imaging system configured to be mounted in an interior compartment of a vehicle (1400) structure, the imaging system comprising: an infrared imaging module (1202) configured to capture thermal images of at least a portion of the interior compartment within a field of view (FOV) of the infrared imaging module; and a processor configured to detect an occupant (1404) in the interior compartment (1406); determine a temperature of the occupant (1404) and/or the interior compartment (1406) based on the thermal images; determine whether the temperature is outside a predetermined range of temperatures; and perform a response action if the occupant (1404) is detected and the temperature is determined to be outside the predetermined range, the response action including any combination of: generating an alert for transmission to a remote device (1408), generating a control signal to actuate a door (1433) or a window (1440) of the structure, and/or generating a control signal to adjust a climate (1431) in the interior compartment; and a communications device (1409) configured to transmit the alert to the remote device (1408). |
