PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of extending the life of a discharge lamp.SOLUTION: A projector 500A comprises: a discharge lamp 90 having a light emitting tube and emitting light; light modulation devices 560R, 560G, 560B modulating light emitted from the discharge lamp in accordance with image signals; a projection optical system projecting the light modulated by the light modulation devices 560R, 560G, 560B; a detection unit 11 detecting ultraviolet rays UV of the light emitted from the discharge lamp 90; and a control unit 40 determining a deterioration state of the light emitting tube on the basis of a light volume of the ultraviolet rays UV detected by the detection unit 11.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
