摘要 In the examples provided herein, a method transmits a signal at a first wavelength in a first direction along a first waveguide. The first waveguide crosses a second waveguide at a crossing point, and four microring resonators are positioned near the crossing point with one resonator in each quadrant formed by the waveguides. The method tunes a first and a fourth microring resonator in a first and fourth quadrant, respectively, such that an effect on the signal is selectable from: 1) the signal is dropped to a third direction along the second waveguide, 2) the signal is dropped to a fourth direction along the second waveguide that is opposite to the third direction, 3) a first portion of the signal is dropped to the third direction and a second portion of the signal is dropped to the fourth direction, and 4) the signal continues in the first direction.
