1. An optical computing device to determine a characteristic of a fluid sample, the device comprising:
a probe body adapted for use along a tubular body, the probe body comprising:
a first rod extending into the tubular body; anda second rod extending into the tubular body adjacent the first rod, thereby forming a gap between the first and second rods wherein the sample fluid may flow; electromagnetic radiation that optically interacts with the fluid sample flowing through the gap to thereby produce sample-interacted light; an optical element that optically interacts with the sample-interacted light to produce optically-interacted light which corresponds to the characteristic of the fluid sample; and a detector positioned to measure the optically-interacted light and thereby generate a signal utilized to determine the characteristic of the fluid sample. |
