Mechanical component has an aluminum based matrix incorporating a core and an envelope with a metallurgical linkage made from two different composite materials. A mechanical component (50) presents a principal direction along which extends a heart zone forming a core (52) and a peripheral zone forming an envelope (54) surrounding the core. The core and envelope have between them a metallurgical linkage, with the core being made of a first material with a metal matrix and the envelope being made from a second material with a metal matrix. The metal matrices have the same base metal and at least one of the first and second materials is formed of a composite with a metal matrix incorporating some reinforcing elements dispersed in the metal matrix. An Independent claim is also included for a method for the fabrication of such a mechanical component.
