PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of improving the restoring stability of a hull when the hull is damaged which can increase the restoring stability of the hull when the hull is damaged without increasing the width, the depth, and the number of water-sealed compartments of ship in ships such as liquid tankers, particularly liquid tankers with independent tanks. SOLUTION: In this method of improving the restoring stability of the hull when the hull of a ship 1 is damaged, water is started to be intruded or introduced into an emergency water conveying compartment formed near the bottom of the ship during the period in which the hull is damaged, flooding is advanced, and the hull is brought into a final equilibrium state or in the final equilibrium state.
