PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably move an ink carrier with less variation on both outward movement and return movement in an inkjet printer composed so that the ink carrier is connected to an endless belt stretched between a driving pulley and a driven pulley, and is moved back and forth on a straight line. SOLUTION: An ASIC (CPU) starts rotation of a motor (S1), and at the beginning when the ink carrier starts movement, performs feedback control (S2) using a standard proportional constant Kp<SB>o</SB>and an integral constant Ki<SB>o</SB>. When it is judged that the moving direction of the ink carrier is in the direction going away from the driving pulley by a signal from an encoder device (S3, YES), the feedback control is performed by switching to a proportional constant Kpf and an integral constant Kif for outward path (S4). When it is judged that the moving direction of the ink carrier is in the direction approaching to the driving pulley (S3, NO), the feedback control is performed by switching to a proportional constant Kpr and an integral constant Kir for return path (S5).
