<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display apparatus adapted to enable lower electric power consumption, to enable a greater area as well; and to display an underline, memorandum, etc., on a display screen by making direct input onto the display screen in addition to an original display function; and to provide electronic paper. <P>SOLUTION: The display apparatus 1 of an active matrix drive is equipped with a plurality of pixels having holdability of the display.
