Various embodiments are described herein for a housing for a detection unit that is used to read a power meter unit mounted on a structur e that is consuming power. The power meter unit includes an indication with a cyclical property having a period that varies at a rate indicative of power consumption of the structure. Generally, the housing includes a main body fo r housing internal electronics, an extension member having a head region for housing at least a portion of the sensor unit, and an attachment means for mounting the main body on the power meter.
