PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illuminating device having improved light using efficiency, and capable of obtaining an illumination luminous flux of uniform distribution. SOLUTION: Regarding the illuminating device 2 constituted so that the illumination luminous flux emitted from a light source 11 may be emitted through a light guide body 13, the device 2 includes: a holder 41 for holding the light guide body 13; elastic supporting members 42a and 42b for supporting the holder so that the holder can displace in at least an optical axis direction with respect to a holder supporting member 24; holder driving means (51a, 51b, 55, 52a, 52b and 56) for driving the holder; position detecting means 17 and 18 for detecting the position of the holder in the optical axis direction; a servo-control means 106 for controlling the position of the holder in the optical axis direction through the holder driving control means based on the output of the position detecting means; and excitation control means 103 and 104 for selectively exciting the holder through the holder driving means in a state where the servo-control means is not operated.
