<p>1306561 Combusting waste materials; gas burner MESSER GRIESHEIM GmbH 16 June 1970 [16 June 1969] 29038/70 Headings F4B and F4T Waste material from a bore 10 is combusted in a water jacketed combustion chamber 4 into which fuel gas from bores 7 and combustion supporting gas from bores 6 are supplied, the bores 6 and 7 being concentric with the bore 10. The gases enter the cylindrical or Laval type chamber 4 at speeds greater than that of sound so that shock waves are induced therein. A circle of bores, concentric with the chamber axis may replace the bore 10 (Fig. 5, not shown). Alternatively (Fig. 6, not shown) the bore 10 may widen conically and have a conical, spherical or hemispherical deflector (13) rigidly or resiliently mounted within it. The deflector may at least partially rotate the material flowing past it, whilst the bores 6 may be inclined to cause some rotation of the combustion supporting gas. The latter gas may be oxygen, enriched air or air, whilst the waste material may be an aqueous or liquid slurry such as filter sludge, flotation sludge, sewage sludge, waste oil, acid tar, or sulphite waste liquor, sewage containing cyanogen, hydrogen cyanide, phenol, carbon tetrachloride, phosgene, carbon disulphide or hydrogen sulphide, or synthetic resin, sulphur or rubber grindings.</p> |
